About The Change Our World Event
On Nov. 14th, 2009 Five Star is hosting it’s second annual Change Our World event and we need your help.
For one day, students, business teams, families, and community leaders gather to work together in a massive community service day event.
We are looking for event sponsors and teams of companies, service clubs, churches and schools to help tell students how much they matter.
This year, if 40 teams meet their goals, we will make a difference in 1,200 students' lives.
Last year, we had an amazing kick-off year.

800 people rallied at Penn High School. They broke into 4 large teams and raked over 45 acres of leaves in two hours for our city parks.

Everyone received a Change Our World T-shirt and a meal to cap off the day.

Not only that, but 15 corporate teams and sponsors raised almost 15% of our Five Star program costs for the 10 schools we served this past school year.

About Five Star
The Five Star program revolves around two key beliefs:
1) students need a foundation of strong core values to help them make good decisions throughout like, and
2) students need positive role models to succeed in life. Program events focus on teaching five core values: Courage, Respect, Integrity, Responsibility, and Sacrifice.
Grades, discipline referrals, attendance and pre and post surveys are used to measure success. Programs occur over three 8-week seasons: Fall, Winter and Spring, where five to seven students are paired with one volunteer coach.
Five Star also operates a 270-acre ranch, Manowe, in Sturgis, Michigan, where its staff conducts experiential leadership development, team building and character-building sessions. The ranch provides opportunities for activities such as fishing, swimming, camping (cabins) and horseback riding. It also offers one of the largest adventure high ropes course in the Midwest, along with multiple low ropes team building elements.
